Privacy Policy

Last Updated: July 28, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how WikiPortal (the "Application") handles information. WikiPortal is a client for browsing third-party, MediaWiki-powered wiki sites that you choose to add, such as Wikipedia, Wiktionary, or any Miraheze-hosted or self-hosted wiki.

In short: WikiPortal has no backend server of its own. It does not use analytics or advertising SDKs, does not require an account, and does not collect, transmit, or have access to your personal data. The app talks directly to whichever wiki you browse, the same way a web browser would, and keeps everything else on your own device.

Information We Do Not Collect

We have no servers of our own, so there is nothing for us to collect. Specifically, WikiPortal does not:

Information Stored On Your Device

WikiPortal keeps the following locally on your device, in the app's own storage, so it can function without a network connection and remember your setup between sessions:

None of this is sent anywhere. You can clear your history and remove saved pages from within the app at any time, and uninstalling the app removes all of it.

Network Requests

When you browse a wiki, WikiPortal loads it directly from that wiki's own servers, the same as opening it in a web browser. To show what's currently popular on a wiki you follow, the app also fetches that wiki's own public page-view statistics (aggregate counts of which pages are being read, not information about you individually). No request from the app passes through a server operated by us, because none exists.

Third-Party Wikis

Once you're viewing an actual wiki inside the app, you're interacting with that wiki directly, and its own privacy policy and terms apply. If you log in to a wiki from within WikiPortal, that login is handled entirely by the wiki itself; WikiPortal does not see, store, or manage your wiki credentials. Any session cookies for that login are kept by the standard in-app browser component, the same as they would be in any mobile browser, and are specific to that wiki's own domain.

App Logs

Settings includes an "App logs" screen intended for troubleshooting, aimed at people who want to see what the app has been doing when something goes wrong. These logs:

Children's Privacy

WikiPortal is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect information from anyone, adults and children alike, since it does not collect personal information from any user.
